Jasin Todd, very nice...

"With the release of their 2003 debut "Leave A Whisper", Shinedown joined the ranks of modern metal bands taking their cues from the major league success of Creed. Namely they played crunchy guitar nu metal with unprecedented amounts of melody. The band's 2004 single, a cover of the great Skynyrd, "Simple Man," was surprisingly true to the original, and also successfully fused real Southern rock elements to the trappings of radio metal. Shinedown proved itself a band that was able to change with the times."

Shinedown visits Dallas, Texas

Well, Grand Prairie to be exact. They put on a high energy show, the band works like one instrument, they have obviously been working together for quite a while...the singer, Brent Smith, a passionate front man with real vocal chops. His vocals are raw, real and not a product of any vocal coaching. He has that amazing ability to throw out sound of massive magnitude. I have been intrigued by this band. I think one of the reasons is he reminded me of one of my past favorite hard rockers, Kurt Cobain. That raw vocal angst and power. He does a great rendition of U2's "One" on the video link from "Stripped"
Check it out if you haven't heard it yet.

Rock on Shinedown!
